You land in Da Nang
Hoi An does not have the international airport. You land at Da Nang, then ride about forty minutes south. A taxi is often quoted around 350,000–450,000 dong. Grab works if your SIM is already alive. Do not start the stay by hunting a perfect house at 11pm with luggage.
Week one
Sleep in An Bang or on the edge of the old town, depending on whether you want the beach or the walk. Rent a bicycle before you rent a scooter. The distances that matter are short until they are not, and a bicycle tells you which. Eat outside the Ancient Town at least half the time. The same bowl costs less, and you learn the town people live in.
Before you sign
- Walk the lane after dark. Lanterns are lovely. A bar under the bedroom is not.
- Ask about flooding, not just in Cam Nam and Cam Thanh. The river is the reason the town is here.
- Electricity on top of rent is normal. Air-conditioning is the bill.
- Visa questions belong on the visa page, not in a landlord’s WhatsApp. The UD1 note is a separate guide and the law has been moving.
